10 Reasons Why We Love European Cars

10 Reasons Why We Love European Cars

There are so many reasons to love European cars, everything from their superior quality in engineering, to speed and the pleasure you get from operating such a finely tuned machine. Here are our top 10.

1. Wider Variety of Choices

In Europe, the variety of auto manufacturers is vast in comparison to the United States as each is independent such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo, to name a few. In the US, a single motor company owns many makes of vehicles such as GM who owns GMC, Chevy, Buick, Cadillac, etc.

2. More Value for Your Money

When you are going to make a significant investment, you want to get the most bang for your buck. European cars typically have more features out of the gate. However, American carmakers have made quite a bit of progress on this front; it is still better to spend a little more and get a better-quality car, especially when it comes to an entry-level stock model. You will find it is money well spent in the long run.

3.    More Manual Transmission Models

Manual transmissions are much more common overseas than here in the states. With technology and possibly lack of respect for classics, or even laziness driving our desires, automatic transmissions have taken over the market in domestic model vehicles, and manual transmission vehicles are becoming phased out. With European cars, most standard models come with a choice between the two. If you are a manual transmission enthusiast, you will certainly admire the drive of your European car.

4. Great Build Quality

Many of the safest, most durable vehicles have come from European automakers. Yes, they usually cost a bit of money, but for a good reason, designed for safety, they look great, built with passionate attention to detail. Do you remember back in the ’80s when Volvo revolutionized the auto industry? We sure do, and they continue to be on the leading edge of technology to this day.

European vehicles designed with stronger individual parts intended to withstand an impact. These more substantial parts are long-lasting and offer a better shelf life. In contrast, most American cars (aside from Dodge) designed with many fiberglass and plastic parts meant to crumple, activating airbags.

5. European vehicles are Typically Quicker

A lifestyle defining many car lovers is a Need for Speed attitude. After all, who doesn’t desire to go fast in a beautiful machine? European car manufacturers such as Bugatti, Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini make many of the fastest vehicles’ money can buy.

6. European Cars Offer Better Quality On Higher Priced Cars

Although this point is a subjective one, it seems that American auto manufacturers put most of their effort into lower and mid-range vehicles and don’t seem to put the extra care into their higher-priced cars. Whereas our European counterparts tend to use better suspension and better materials for both interiors and exteriors in all their vehicles. It can be argued that European cars are superior to their American counterparts when evaluating the exterior looks and performance of the most popular brands.

7. European Cars Offer Better Branding

European automakers place a lot of importance on their brand. American automakers often build both upper and lower class within their brand, offering a much less expensive price tag; European and even Asian automakers would never do such a thing. They instead will break off into another brand offering a more economical option rather than compromising their high-quality image. They put a lot of time and energy into making sure their high-end vehicles are of the best in the world, so they are unwilling to put their brand on a lower quality driving machine.

 8. European Cars Have Better Rides

Longer gear ratios and suspension systems are some of the dramatic ride differences between European and American cars. European cars tend to have a much firmer ride and a lot less cheap plastic on their vehicles.

9. European Cars Get Better Mileage

Likely due to the cost of fuel prices, European automakers have been building a much more efficient car for many more years than American automakers. The advantage is due to the development of technology and progress over the years, giving them the edge.

 10. European Cars Have A Better Look

It is easy to see which car is European and which is American when simply lining 3 of each side-by-side due to the sleek look European vehicles have. European automakers take a lot of pride in their cars and do not stop designing until their version of perfection is achieved in the designer’s eye. This does tend to lead to a higher price point; however, the general public seems willing to pay the difference for a higher quality look and drive.
